DNA Position Statement
on Zoning and Expansion of the Historic District
May
22, 2007
Historic
Zoning Commission Members,
The
Downtown Neighborhood Association does not feel that the
benefits of historic zoning outweigh the bureaucracy
of additional codes, requirements, and approval processes
involved in restoring, upgrading, and/or maintaining downtown
property.
We
appreciate the hard work and dedication you have shown to this
project and we believe that uniformity and control should be
exercised in the future to ensure the long term growth and
success of Downtown. Benefits
like more favorable building codes, facade grants,
and/or increased tax incentives would go a long way toward
gaining support for this program.
Respectfully
submitted for the Board and Membership of the Downtown
Neighborhood Association,
Marcus
Nachman
