DNA Position Statements -

Respectfully submitted to the City Commission on May 7, 2009 for the President and Board of Directors.

The Downtown Neighborhood Association does not support the plan for Redevelopment or Flood mitigation because it includes the destruction of downtown buildings.

This includes but is not limited to the properties identified in the Redevelopment Plan on Buffalo St. and Tipton St., buildings bordering W. Main and W. Market from Buffalo St. to Boone St., and McClure St. from W. Market St. to King St.

What we have learned from the past is the destruction of buildings like the Arcade Building, the Majestic Theater building, the Train Station, the numerous buildings in the 100 block of W. Market & W. Main were a part of downtown heritage and culture that is now gone forever.

DNA would fully support and work with the City/JCDA on a Redevelopment/Flood mitigation plan that does not involve the destruction of downtown buildings.

Respectfully submitted to the City Commission on May 13, 2009 for the President and Board of Directors.

The Downtown Neighborhood Association is in favor of the City licensing and regulating food cart street vendors.

We fully support our downtown restaurateurs and think this will add another dining dimension to downtown.
